HP has a good laptop

It would be $600 or a little more, you have to pay extra for the 1080p display, and extra for better WiFi.

It has 16 GB of RAM, so it's the best deal. There's another one like it, but you can't get a 1080p display on it.

Linux probably works fine on it, it says Intel for the WiFi, that most likely works in Linux.

Maybe my mom will pay half, she said she could probably buy me an iPad. Will it still be that price at the end of next week?

Wouldn't ship till the 14th, so maybe. I can spend $400, so she'd only need to give me $200. If she gives me $250, that's better, the tax will probably be $30-$50.

Get the 17" one, not 1080p, but more then most of the 15" or smaller ones. It's 1600 x 900. And it's cheaper if you get that, unless you want the 1080p display. I just don't want the lowest resolution, that they put on almost all budget laptops for some reason. They must of forgot it's 2019.

I should be in bed, but I can't sleep. Don't get the 17", no SSD, costs over $600 with one.

And Lenovo wins, I don't care what Ryzen CPU it has, the 3 is all I need in a laptop, $511, with a 1080p display, and 8 GB of RAM, and a SSD. For $591.30, you can get it with a Ryzen 7, of course the mobile chip, not what my desktop has. If I insist on a better CPU, even though it doesn't really matter, get the 5 for $50 more. That's $547.50.

Is 1366 x 768 really that bad?

You can get an Acer Ryzen 3 laptop for $310 at Staples. That's cheaper then the 128 GB iPad.

Not really worth it, comes with a shitty hard drive, not a SSD. You could open it, but that's a pain.

There's a Lenovo with a 1080p display, out of stock though.

How much is an i3 laptop with a 1080p display? Don't really want to support manufactures that are handicapping AMD laptops though.

Will my mom give me $250 so I can buy a laptop instead of an iPad? That's about how much a 1080p AMD laptop costs.

Go with Lenovo, Office Depot has one, 8 GB of RAM, and a SSD. No need to open it up. Does all the hardware on it work with Linux? Well, if the WiFi doesn't, just use a USB adapter, I have one, that works with Linux. Might be online only. How much is it from Lenovo directly? I can get a discount.

Get a ThinkPad, you can customize it, and people run Linux on them. It'll be close to $600 though, because I'm to fucking lazy to put another stick of RAM in it. It'll cost me around $300, if my mom gives me $250. Or I give her the money and she buys it for me.

To answer the question, yes it is. That's partly why I sold my i3 Dell.

Apparently HDHomeRun Premium TV went down yesterday

It's the am here now, so it was yesterday when it started. Apparently channels were missing. And now some are back, but wrong resolution and aspect ratio.

I have it till the 1st, I cancelled it. And I don't use it anymore, Philo sure looks better, cheaper too.

That was a waste of time

Thought the dog had to go poop, because earlier when I took her out, she was pulling to go the other way, but I went inside instead.

Not taking her outside after 10 pm again. As if anybody is out there, she will bark. If she wakes somebody up, they will complain. So she might get herself evicted. Not worth losing an apartment over a dog, just give her back to my mom.

Except other people's dogs bark all the time. So I'll wait to evict her until they evict me, and then I'll ask why none of the other people are getting evicted.

Didn't stay outside when she started barking. If she barks, then I'll just go inside. Maybe someday she will learn how to go to the bathroom, instead of barking at everything.

Almost 11 pm. Didn't realize she was going to bark.

No wonder colors look slightly wrong on my TV

Changing the color temperature, changed some of the expert picture settings. The white balance settings. Changing it to warm, doesn't get the settings back. Now I have to find the settings again.

Cool doesn't really look better. Normal color temperature is what had the white balance settings. They say to use warm color temperature.

Not a big difference between 2.2 and 2.4 gamma. Red still doesn't look exactly right. That might be my insanity though.

Funny, I ended up with the settings I had to begin with.

I think it's the red they used in South Park. Warm doesn't look right. But normal and cool can look the same, depending on what the brightness is. Or mostly the same.

Why I won't buy a new iPhone

They don't have force touch or whatever it's called. Press hard on an incoming text message, and you can respond, without leaving whatever app you are in.

Also, I'll probably get a Linux phone next. Just have to wait for a 5G modem for the Librem 5. You can replace the modem, it's not soldered on, think it says it's in a M.2 slot.

SLR Magic or Meike?

The Meike is 12mm f2.8, and the SLR Magic is 8mm f4.0.

The Meike is probably better, because the lowest aperture is f2.8, so you can step it down to f5.6, the SLR Magic might need to be stepped down farther then f5.6.

Probably doesn't really matter, both would be used outside. The SLR Magic is cheaper.

Except, the SLR Magic, you have to screw down the focus thing, if you change the aperture, you might change focus too. Not really an issue for me, I'd set it to f5.6 or something, and leave it there.

No f5.6 on the SLR Magic. Kind of pointless then, my Olympus 9mm is f8, which is the next thing you can step the SLR Magic down to.

Oh wait, I keep forgetting my Olympus is a fisheye lens. The SLR Magic isn't. It's cheaper then the Meike, so might as well buy it, or have somebody buy it for me.

It's only marked for f4, f8, f16, you can still use f5.6. You just have to be a magician to find it.

Funny, all the bad reviews on B&H aren't verified, even one that says they couldn't return it, because they were past the return time.

Gamma 2.4 looks better

On my TCL TV. The settings on the site, might look good for them, but not to me. I turned the brightness to bright instead of brightest too.

Looks washed out with gamma 2.2. I like dark pictures, the colors look better, and it doesn't look washed out.

iPad it is

I know it's fast, because it has the same CPU as my phone.

I'm guessing the A4-9120C isn't based on Ryzen, that would explain the horrible benchmarks. I've had Chromebooks as slow as the 9120C, no need for another.

How long is it on sale? Mom said she can probably buy it for me for my birthday present. But I want the 128 GB one, and I don't know the normal pricing on that. She doesn't get paid till next week.

So I might buy it on Friday, unless the price went up. Maybe she can buy me accessories instead, like a keyboard case. Or a lens for my camera.

iOS kind of sucks, but it's faster then most Android tablets. Or all of them, haven't looked at any benchmarks. Don't even know what the current Android tablets are.

According to benchmarks, the AMD A4-9120C is slower then the iPad

The latest/cheapest iPad. But all the benchmarks say Android. So is it emulating an ARM CPU? Depends if Geekbench for Android is compiled for x86.

You can run Android apps on Chromebooks. I wonder what the benchmark result is for a non Android app. You might be able to run the Linux Geekbench.

So it's basically the same as the 9120, from 2016. Just slower clock speeds and less power.

The 9120 results suck too, with Windows and Linux. Think I'll get the iPad then, I'll take the speed over Chrome OS.

7artisans has a 12mm lens too

Is it better then the Meike? The Meike is cheaper, if you use the $20 coupon. Otherwise they cost about the same.

Winco has good food

I don't know why you'd buy food anywhere else.

Well, their fresh pizza isn't very good. Not very much sauce or toppings on it. Takes a long time to cook too. They have frozen pizza, the Wild Mike's pizza is better then their fresh pizza.

They have good cheese and lunch meat. I don't buy vegetables. That's for rookies.

That wasn't a very long letter

That my counselor sent to all his clients. He's retiring on 5/22/19.

Guess he didn't have much to say.

Meike 12mm f/2.8 for Micro Four Thirds

I'll probably buy that eventually, it's cheaper then the Rokinon. Apparently the Rokinon has some flaring issues too.

The first picture I take with that, will be pointing at the light in my apartment, to see what serious flaring looks like.

Some people on DPReview say that brand is fine. One person got the infinity focus in the wrong spot, but it's a cheap lens, so bad versions are bound to get out.

I don't see the point in paying almost $300 for the Rokinon, if they both have flaring issues.

The Meike is $190 on Amazon. You can get $20 off.

Somebody with a Fuji camera, the lens was super hard to remove from their camera. Eh, I'll just ask somebody to remove it for me, if that happens.

I need to own a Meike lens, I have a YI, I had some other cheap brand. I collect all cheap manual lenses, well the YI is auto focus. I paid $100 or so for it used. Glad they didn't like it, cause I love it.

I do have the fisheye 9mm or whatever body cap lens. But I need a lens without the fisheye affect, I'm to lazy to remove it. Might not always want the fisheye affect. Also, that lens is only f8.

I should of tried the cheap manual lens on my new camera, it's gone now.

Don't really need to buy a lens though, I don't use my camera anymore, that's to much work.

Haha, soft around the edges. Did they change the aperture? Probably not.

No idea why I want the Chromebook. Probably because you can run some Linux programs on it.

Trump supporters have to resort to insults

That's pretty sad, that their brain is that tiny.

Just look at the rants and raves on Craigslist. They like calling Democrats "libtards".

That's better then being a Trumpet.

If you don't live in a shithole city and/or country, the rants and raves might not be political. They should move all of that to the politics section. So then they can fight each other.

You are born mentally challenged. So using it as an insult, makes you an asshole.

An iPad would work too

Except the cheapest one, my mom says is slow. She doesn't explain what that means though, like if it takes stuff a long time to load, or if it takes a long time to open apps.

If it just takes a long time to load something in the browser, then it might not be iPad related. Could be her WiFi.

I'd be in bed, but I keep having to shit, the beauty of no fiber. Also, I slept till almost 2 pm. Might not be until 4 am that I can fall a sleep.

I can get an iPhone XR for $449? Apple is kind of a dick though, not letting me install Linux on it.

Nope, about $500 for me. I only have an iPhone 7 to trade in. That's still cheaper then $700+ or whatever they charge. But no fingerprint sensor, you have to use the shitty face scanner thing.

The iPad is cheaper then the Chromebook, $250 at Best Buy. I'd buy the 128 GB, it's $330, the price of the 32 GB from Apple.

HP Chromebook 14-inch FHD IPS Non-Touch Laptop with 180-degree Hinge, AMD Dual-Core A4-9120 Processor, 4 GB SDRAM, 32 GB eMMC Storage, Chrome OS (14-db0040nr, Chalkboard Gray)

That Chromebook is $260 on Amazon, $10 cheaper then the worse one on HP's site.

The only reason to buy the one on HP's site, is if you want better battery life. Not much better. The one on Amazon has a faster CPU, and a real display, 1080p. I don't want any display lower then 1080p, part of the reason I sold the Dell laptop I had.

I don't know why AMD doesn't list that Chromebook on their site, they just list the shitty one.

Then again, the specs on Amazon could be wrong, but they do have a color AMD doesn't link to.

And the CPU might be wrong on Amazon, I searched Google for "db0040nr", and it says the slower C CPU, that is 9120C. But the resolution says 1080p. I only care about the display size.

Can you put Linux on it? Otherwise Google can sell my info. They already do for my email. The jokes on Google though, nobody wants my info. It's a waste of money. Google loses money on me.

Well, if I buy a laptop, it'll be that Chromebook. Don't want to risk Linux not working on a Windows laptop. Seeing as that would be $500. Chrome OS should have Linux support by now.

Linux support is in Beta. What distro is it? It uses APT, but does it use Debian's repo or Ubuntu's or their own? Can I install distcc? So I can compile missing stuff?

Lots of stuff not supported. And it sounds like it runs in a virtual machine.

What Linux program do I need to run on it anyways?

If I do go on vacation

I need a laptop. Otherwise, I'll be bored out of my mind. Then I can be bored on the laptop instead.

Get a Chromebook, you can run Linux programs on it, and Linux itself might work on it too.

The HP AMD one has a shitty resolution. I'd need to bring a monitor too, no thanks.

They do make small USB C displays, the C port on that HP carries video too.

Haha bad review, because they don't know how to use plain text on a Chromebook, because there's no "notepad" option. Use a Linux program. Unless that one doesn't support Linux programs.

Maybe I'll buy it on Friday, because of that one bad review, well it was an awful review, they gave it three stars. They are taking a computer literacy class. To bad they don't teach Linux in that class.

How much is a Windows Ryzen laptop? They might have cheaper ones by now. I can get a discount, but the resolution probably sucks on the one I saw. Just put Linux on it, and hope the hardware is compatible.

HP has some cheap ones. Does my mom's work get a discount on HP? I forgot the site you login to. Looks like they do. Their site is dead, says file not found.

Got the HP site to work, disable the HTTPS Everywhere extension. Then remove the s from http.

That only solves one problem, the login and register link do nothing. Don't use the broken buttons, click the menu sign in register link. Haha, that didn't work, registered for their regular site, not the discount.

Finally got it to work, had to white list a bunch of crap. Good job HP, using ad sites.

Why no discount on the $270 Chromebook? I want $70 off, and I'll buy it right now. It'd cost $380 for a Ryzen 3 laptop. That's probably faster then the Chromebook, who knows if Linux works on it though. And probably the old Ryzen CPU, and you have to pay another $40 for a proper display. They know how to make you not buy a Ryzen laptop, give em shitty displays, and old CPUs.

Linux might work on the ThinkPad E485 AMD. But that'll cost $500, with a SSD, and a real display. And for that price, only 4 GB of RAM. Can I select no OS and get $100 off? The Chromebook is cheaper, and should be able to run Linux programs. And it only has 4 GB of RAM too, but under $300, so a better deal.

ASUS has one for a little cheaper, with 6 GB of RAM, but only a shitty hybrid drive.

What's the resolution? The description on Amazon says the shitty resolution, but Best Buy said 1080p, and farther up the page it says 1080p. It has a M.2 SATA slot, for a SSD.

Pay $96 for five months, you can do so on Amazon. And Linux should work on the ASUS. But you might have very shitty battery life. Damn, can't buy the lens on a monthly plan. Cheaper then that laptop, that I don't really need.

Can I sue Apple?

For not allowing me to install Linux on my iPhone and Apple TV?

I should own the hardware, since I paid them. If I'm not leasing it, I should be allowed to run whatever I want on it.

An Android phone isn't necessary any better, I don't want Android, I want Linux. There are some Linux distros, that work on some phones, probably mostly old phones. Might as well buy the Librem 5, if it's ever released.

Looks like Q3 starts in July.

Wait a second, I can install Linux on my Switch. Put Kodi on it, that's better then the Mythtv app I bought for the Apple TV. Except, the battery might get messed up if you do that. It won't be reported correctly, so when you boot the original OS, it will be dead.

Samyang 7.5mm

Where did they get that for $150? On the DPReview forum they say it costs about $150.

Both Amazon and B&H, it costs over $200, $219 on B&H.

You can get it used for $182. They clearly don't know how much it costs, they said dollars, not something else.
